Gwel-an-Nans Farm is a superb location for exploring Cornwall. There are many beautiful gardens and historic properties within easy driving distance, such as the famous Eden Project, Pencarrow House and Gardens, and Trebah Gardens. The National Trust has numerous countryside and historic houses throughout the county which are well worth a day trip, such as St. Michael’s Mount, as well as some close to the Farm, including Lanhydrock House and the Elizabethan Manor House at Trerice.

Countryside, Coast and Watersports

Gwel-an-Nans Farm is ideally situated for enthusiastic cyclists of all levels. It is just a couple of miles from the off-road biking trails at Cardinham Woods, which feature the 12km Bodmin Beast and two tough red graded trails. Families will enjoy the trails at Lanhydrock, just a few miles further afield, while the 18 mile Camel Trail can be joined at Bodmin. Sustrans Cycle Route 3, known as the Cornish Way, also runs through Bodmin.

Historic Houses and Gardens

A short drive away is Siblyback Lake with it’s range of inland water sports and activities. For the more energetic walking, pony trekking and cycling are all close to the Farm, including Cardinham Woods and the Camel Trail. The north coast with its dramatic cliffs, surfing beaches and coastal paths and the south coast with its family friendly beaches are within 30 minutes drive.
